The Mount Vernon HS boundary is located surrounding the world-famous museum of Mount Vernon, the plantation house of George Washington, the first President of the United States.
Speaking of history, also within the Mount Vernon HS boundary, is Fort Belvoir. Fort Belvoir is now an important military installation – originally built during World War I, but prior to that it used to be a plantation house belonging to the family of Thomas Fairfax, the original owner of the Northern Neck.
